Free Agent

Woke up this morning as a free agent! After deciding last year that I’d semi-retire in 2011 as a sixty year old, I gave notice and my contract terminated on 31 July.  Of course, semi-retiral doesn’t exactly mean having nothing to do – just the freedom to do what you enjoy!  I’m currently negotiating a part-time (one week a month) consulting contract and have a few of my own ‘projects’ lined up – but more about that later.

On the leisure front, I’ve been watching too much cycling recently – Tour de France on television and Tour de Pologne live here in Warsaw yesterday – and as result I’m looking for a new bike.

Direction Copenhagen

Vanessa and I had three and a half days to explore Copenhagen at the last weekend of May – it wasn’t enough to do justice to all the many attractions of the city.  This post tells you what we did during our visit and gives some ratings, which hopefully will prove useful to other visitors to Copenhagen.

Our favourite visits, however, were actually outside Copenhagen in nearby Roskilde and Helsingør, which are very accessible by public transport.

Northern Irish Adventures!

Rob and I arrived in Belfast on the very early morning ferry at 6am, we were starving so first things first a greasy spoon for breakfast… Two sausages, black pudding, vegetable pudding, bacon, burger, tomatoes, mushrooms, soda bread and potato scones? Yes please!

Success! (at last)

Having arrived back from Northern Ireland today I thought I’d let you know of my JK success…. 2nd in W21L!!! Whoop whoop! Some might say it’s a hollow victory as all the good people run elite but whatever it’s my most successful race ever!

A Police Escort & 2 Drunk Girls

Yesterday evening along with 1,410 other cyclists I enjoyed a police escort as we toured Warsaw on the monthly Critical Mass cycle ride. I also met the police in slightly different circumstances a week earlier after my car was vandalised by 2 drunk girls.
