Rob and Kath came to Warsaw for a short visit and vodka tasting at the beginning of June 2010. We were also under threat of flooding in Warsaw at the time with a surge in the levels of the River Vistula as flood waters from the south of Poland made their way to the sea. Fortunately, there wasn’t any serious flooding in Warsaw in the end, although some areas of Poland were badly affected.
With Kath and Rob arriving in the middle of the day on Saturday 5 June, we were soon ready to take advantage of the good weather. Following a tour round the sights of Warsaw, we ate traditional Polish fare at Folk Gospoda before visiting Someplace Else for the vodka tasting and live music.
As Rob had brought me a bottle of a very fine malt whisky, Scapa, dawn was breaking when we ended the whisky tasting at my apartment. Can’t say I felt very lively on Sunday!
With Rob returning to UK on Sunday evening, Kath and I were on our own for the remainder of her stay. On the Monday we went for a cycle ride by the River Vistula, but had to make a number of detours due to the flood water levels in the Vistula. Tuesday saw a visit to Warsaw Zoo before Katharine returned to the UK that evening.
