With winter behind us it was time to get the bicycle out again and attempt to improve my fitness. Following a short 45 minute warm up yesterday, I took a ride of about 30km from my home in Warsaw city centre to the south east boundary of the city following most of the red route on the map below.
Warsaw’s rather subdued at the moment due to the mourning for the 96 people who lost their lives in the air accident at Smolensk a week ago. There was a major memorial mass in the city’s Plac Piłsudskiego today. Despite this, getting out and about and seeing nature springing to life again makes me feel that life’s good.
Many thanks to Lindsay for the new saddle for my bicycle – it’s much more comfortable for longer trips than my old saddle!
Here are a few photos from today’s ride:
I’m feeling rather hungry now and I’m planning to try making a vegetarian “chilli con carne” – if it works out, I’ll give you the recipe.
Still waiting to see Katharine’s photos of her winter mountaineering. When can we expect them Kath?
